Major companies pull out of Mobile World’s Congress due to #Coronavirus

Coronavirus has rocked the walls of Wuhan, China, escalating to other parts of the country and some other countries. Thanks to this outbreak, there is a total of 1,100 deaths, and about 45,000 people suffering from the infection.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) was meant to be between Feb 24 and Feb 27, 2020 in Barcelona, Spain. However, as of now, the whole is cancelled following the fact that major participating companies decided to pull out of the event, to avoid the risk of exposing workers to the Coronavirus.

While most of the companies started pulling out, the organisers were resolute to continue with the event as planned. However, reports have it that the congress is totally cancelled. Companies that pulled out include the likes of Nokia, ZTE, AT&T, Ericsson, Amazon, Nvidia, Sony, etc.

China is suffering a massive hit from the virus, as the death toll increases, and the fear of the effect it’s having on the economic condition of the country is a major concern. The threat of the virus, however, did not affect events like Samsung Unpacked that took place in San Francisco.
