Following the inconclusive action of the September 22 gubernatorial election in Osun State, in which the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led by 353, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Thursday, September 27 as the new date for rerun.
According to the commission, the rerun will be conducted in some of the units in which votes were cancelled for alleged irregularities.
The affected local governments are : Orolu, Osogbo, Ife South and Ife North, making four local governments in all.
Although Adeleke polled 254,698 votes, 353 more votes than Oyetola got, the number of voters meant a runoff would be needed before either one of them can be return elected as required by law.
On September 27, it will be up to the 3,498 voters spread across seven polling units to decide who will succeed Governor Rauf Aregbesola on November 27.
