Residents of Lagos state on Saturday commended the decision of the state government in setting up viewing centres across the state to enable them see the ongoing Worldcup matches in Russia. Governor Akinwumi Ambode had earlier promised to set up viewing centre across various locations in Lagos state which include Campos Mini stadium, Lagos island, Teslim Balogun stadium surulere, Abesan Estate in Alimosho, Naval yard ajegunle, Bishop aggrey School Mushin and Epe recreation centre, Epe.

At the Campos mini stadium, residents after the Group B match between Portugal and Spain described the initiative as appealing and laudable adding to the fact that unstabe electricity has been a problem in some part of Lagos island but the centre afforded them the luxury of seeing the matches in relaxed mood with stable electricity. Another resident, Lukman Atanda said: “I enjoyed watching football games among the people and the creation of viewing centre by Lagos state government gave me joy because the atmosphere here at the Campos mini stadium is beautiful.
