Deputy senate President, Ekweremadu calls for single tenures with this number of years for Presidents

Through Nigeria’s democracy, the four years single term has been practised, but the Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu thinks that’s not the best.
While at a special Function, Ekweremadu called for a single term for the President, governors and assembly members. But that the single term should be made of six years. Hence, a six years single term.
He cited the example of South American countries, especially Mexico which practised a single tenure system, claiming that it had helped in stabilizing their democracy.
In his words, he said, having a single term would help increase people’s loyalty to the Nation and improve functionality.
